Looking Outward - Missions: Local and Global
We, as a church, help support several full-time missionaries, some on the other side of the world and some right in our local community. Our goal is to not be limited to an “out there” or a “right here” missions mindset, but to have a healthy balance of both. We want to be faithful to the mission to bring health both spiritually and physically to the needy around the globe. At the same time we are called to do this in our very backyard!

Missionaries we help support:

Luke & Megan Forgeng – Three Springs Ministries/Morris, PA

Luke has been serving at Three Springs Ministries since 2006. He is the construction maintenance manager. His job responsibilities at Three Springs Ministries are focused on all construction related projects, which they never seem to be without. He also has the opportunity to take responsibility for the Climbing Club. This group consist of local folks that come to TSM to climb on the climbing wall. It has been a great outreach for him. Other noteworthy tasks have been leading summer trips and having the opportunity to plug in with the True North Internship. It has been a blessing for Luke to work with a great team of believers. He is married to Megan (Loux) they have two daughters, Marissa and Eden and a son Levi.

Dave & Laura Percy – New Tribes Mission/ USA

Dave grew up as a missionary kid in France. In 1980, he came to the States to finish high school in America. Although he was raised in a Christian home he was not yet a Christian. He became a believer at the age of 17 at the Christian high school he attended. He went to Michigan to attend college on a soccer scholarship. He later became a Paramedic for a local ambulance company.

Laura grew up in Michigan. She became a believer at the age 18. The profession she chose was a Cosmetologist and worked at a progressive salon for 5 years. During those 5 years, she met Dave.

They married in 1986, bought a home in Grand Rapids, Michigan and settled down and started their family. In 1988 they were challenged by a talk that a missionary gave at their home church to be involved in reaching the unreached. In 1989, they sold their home and most of their belongings and left for training with New Tribes Mission at the bible school in Jackson, Michigan. Training took four years to completely prepare them for what was ahead.

In 1995 they packed up their four children, left America to serve on the field of Thailand which became their home for 14 years.

In 2008, they returned to the USA for home assignment at which time they were asked to join the team at the NTM_USA Mobilization Center located in Jersey Shore, PA. They gave a two year commitment with the idea of returning to Asia after their youngest son graduated from high school. In 2010, NTM asked them to transfer to NTM's Missionary Training Center located in Roach, MO.

In August of 2011, they are transferring to this ministry. Their responsibilities are two-fold. They will be helping in the development of the Mobilization Center and be involved in the Discipleship of prospective missionary students. Along with these responsibilities, Dave will be teaching some classes periodically on Asia and Missions.

Richard & Wendy Rees – New Tribes Mission/ Thailand

Richard and Wendy Rees are serving with New Tribes Mission in West-central Thailand. Richard is a missionary kid from Japan and Wendy is a missionary kid from Thailand. She actually grew up in the tribal village they now live in. As neither of them had home churches, Oregon Hill Grace Chapel adopted them and we are proud to be their sending church. The Rees' went to Thailand in 2001 to work with Wendy's parents who were church planting among the Pwo Karen tribal group. Currently, Richard is studying the Pwo Karen language and culture and building relationships in the community so that he can clearly communicate God's Word to the Pwo Karen people. Wendy helps with Bible translation checking, but most of her time is spent being a mother and school teacher to their four children Megan, Caleb, Rachel and Karis.

  CEF Tioga County

Child Evangelism Fellowship is a non-denominational, Christian children’s organization. All children are welcome to attend regardless of race, national origin, denomination, or religious affiliation. It is dedicated to providing a well-rounded program to meet the spiritual, physical, and social needs of boys and girls. Sue became the director at Child Evangelism Fellowship of Tioga County in 1999. The purpose of CEF is to reach boys and girls with the Good News of the Gospel through several means such as Five Day Clubs, which are held in neighborhoods on porches , in back yards or inside the home. Then there are Good News Day Camps for kids in K through 6th grade where the days are packed with Bible study, recreation, missions, swimming, crafts, and surprises. In the winter CEF works with the schools in a program called release time, where the children are excused from school for a period of time to meet for Bible teaching

Dan & Sue Schmidt – Bible Centered Ministries Intl.

Dan and Sue Schmidt live near Harrisburg, PA. They've served in church ministry in Illinois, Maryland, Chile and Costa Rica--and Pennsylvania, during some extended pulpit supply at Oregon Hill! Currently Dan supervises USA ministry for BCM International, which has him visiting camps and interacting with people who run Bible Clubs during and after school. He's part of the home office leadership team for BCM as well.

Sue grew up as an MK--her parents ran a Christian camp in the Poconos. Dan was raised in a Christian family, too--one which moved often, so he lived in the Midwest and the Bahamas as a kid. They met in college and have been involved in Christian ministry since then.

Dan and Sue have three grown daughters--Aletheia, Kara and Dorea--and spend as much time with them as possible. Otherwise, they enjoy reading, kayaking, hiking to waterfalls and wandering through museums.

Deacons and Deaconesses

We have a team of Deacons at OHGC to be aware of the needs in our church and local communities and facilitate the meeting of those needs as it is in our ability to act.

(Left to Right: Shawn Stille, Pat Loux, Luke Forgeng & Cheryl Martin)

If you or someone you know has a need you can contact our deacons by email oregonhillgracechapel@yahoo.com or thru our church office at 570-324-5433. Beyond missions, programs and special events we encourage “whole church” ministry, where all are responsible to love their neighbor, serving them in the name of Jesus Christ.
